dc.descriptionAfter searching for the origins of modern accounting from Merchant Writers of the Italian Renaissance on, the article presents Benedetto Cotrugli’s manuscript On Commerce and the Perfect Merchant (Della Mercatura et  del Mercante Perfetto), as a landmark bookkeeping treatise, decisive in elucidating the intellectual origins of management in the context of the evolution of commercial thought. The purpose of the research paper is to support the working hypothesis that modern management is a result of the appearance of double-entry bookkeeping put into practice by Cotrugli, which let the enterprises look for a more rational management in order for perfect merchant to achieve social efficacy.en-US
dc.descriptionTras un rastreo de los orígenes de la contabilidad moderna a partir de los mercaderes escritores del Renacimiento italiano, en este artículo se presenta la obra de Benedetto Cotrugli, “Sobre el Comercio y el Mercader Perfecto” (Della Mercatura et del Mercante perfetto),como un hito histórico crucial para dilucidar los orígenes intelectuales de la gestión en la evolución del pensamiento comercial. El propósito del texto es fundamentar la hipótesis de trabajo de que la gestión moderna es consecuencia de la aparición de la técnica de la partida doble desarrollada por Cotrugli, que permitió a las empresas obtener una gestión más racional para el logro de la eficacia social del mercader perfecto.es-ES
